I feel close to both of mine but in different ways. To me, Hawke’s voice is just the way they talk. It’s like their body shape or their family—it’s something I have no control over personally. But that doesn’t mean they’re not mine and that the choices I have them make and the way they look gives them something unique in that they ARE mine, my own characters I’ve connected to. For me, a voice just made Hawke seem like an actual person rather than a doll running around in the world controlled by strings I was manipulating. The Warden’s lack of a voice was somewhat offsetting for me in that way. It wasn’t a bad thing, it was just different. I want them to continue giving the main characters a voice though. Hell, get two or three voice actors for each sex a piece to record the lines and let the players choose which set they want. That sounds like a cool idea, if it’s actually feasible.
Sadly it’s not feasible because it’d cost too much but I would really love that. Having the choice of what my character SOUNDS LIKE as well as looks like. It’d mean I could play multiple characters and not feel like they’re too much the same.
